Kenneth Dautrich, Ph.D
Partner, The STATS Group

Ken is a prominent author, a leading consultant for Fortune 500 companies and an advisor to government leaders.  Ken's consulting experience spans a wide range of industries as well as a broad array of statistical techniques.  He specializes in statistical analysis that solves real business and policy problems and he and his team of consultants present the results in approachable, understandable and actionable ways.  

Ken was also a professor at the University of Connecticut, where he led the Master’s in Survey Research program, teaching survey methodology, research design, and statistics. He also co-founded UConn’s Center for Survey Research and Analysis and led the Connecticut Poll for a decade, overseeing public opinion research on issues important to Connecticut residents.

Ken has extensive experience in political and election research. He conducted polling for TIME magazine’s 2004 and 2008 presidential election cover stories, served as an election-night exit poll analyst for NBC News, and has provided commentary on elections and the electoral process for WNPR.

Some of the leading companies Ken has provided statistical support include:  JPMorgan Chase, Foxwoods Resort Casino, MetLife, Ford Motor Company, Travelers Insurance, Allstate Insurance, U.S. Department of Defense, The Ad Council, Department of Homeland Security, NJ Transit, The Freedom Forum. Ken has experience in a wide range of industries including:  financial services, entertainment, consumer package goods, retail, public policy, public opinion, advertising, automobile and emergency response.

Ken has also coauthored numerous books on American government, public opinion, the media, and the First Amendment, including American Government: Historical, Popular, and Global Perspectives and The Enduring Democracy, a widely used American government textbook now in its eighth edition.

Elaine Barnes
Partner, The STATS Group

Elaine Barnes is a partner and co-owner of The STATS Group, a full-service survey research and consulting firm. With nearly 20 years of experience in public opinion and market research, Elaine works with corporate, nonprofit, and government clients to design and execute research that provides clear, actionable insights.

Elaine is involved in all phases of the research process, including questionnaire development, survey design, data analysis, report development, and presentation of findings. Her qualitative research experience includes conducting focus groups and in-depth interviews. She has also presented research findings at press conferences, briefed clients and stakeholder groups, and testified before the Connecticut General Assembly.

Throughout her research career, Elaine has worked on projects for a diverse range of organizations, including JPMorgan Chase, OneMain Financial, the Knight Foundation, WWE, the American Heart Association, Eversource, the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services, the Connecticut Office of Higher Education, and the Connecticut Food Association.

Before joining The STATS Group, Elaine spent 11 years in accounting and financial management. Her financial and analytical background continues to inform her approach to research, particularly her focus on accuracy, careful analysis, and translating complex data into findings that clients can readily understand and use.

Elaine brings a hands-on approach to every engagement, working closely with clients from the initial research design through the final presentation to ensure the research addresses their objectives and delivers meaningful, practical insights.
